One of my favorites in a Chinese or Vietnamese meal is pork fried rice. In fact, I love it so much I often order it without knowing where the dish came from. This dish is both old and new, and both versions are great. It is not only an American favorite but also a Szechwan classic.
Many people have heard of the Chinese pork fried rice but have never really tasted it. The reason behind this is that most pork used in this rice is, in fact, a type of Chinese pork called char siu. If you have never tried char siu before, be sure to make it your next dish. It is very tasty and really adds a unique flavor to any meal. Here is a simple secret to making this incredibly delicious recipe come to life with the simple addition of anonymous sauce (sour and sweet) to your table.
You will need: Pork, chicken broth, cornstarch, shaoxing wine, vegetable oil, and anonymous sauce. First, wash the chicken and drain off all the excess fat. Place the pieces in a large mixing bowl and add your prepared pork fried rice recipe and a small amount of hot water. Stir until the ingredients combine and then add in your desired mixture of ingredients.
Once everything mixes, add in your hot water so that everything comes to a boil. While it is simmering, cover the lid to keep it from splashing and boiling over. While the mixture is simmering, chop up the onions and garlic. Then, cut into chunks the size of peas and add them to the mix. Let the mixture continue to simmer on a lower heat for about 20 minutes or so.
When it is done, remove the lid and allow it to boil again. Add in the eggs and blend together using a mixer. Remove the mixture from the heat and add in your desired vegetables. Just blend them together and serve. Once the eggs are done, grab some rice and enjoy your very own pork fried rice!
This delicious recipe may be one of my favorite meals in the entire world. I love pork fried rice and use it almost every day. I do try to make an extra batch because you can prepare it in advance and freeze it. If you are someone who loves to cook at home but is afraid of a long cook time, you can always throw in an extra batch and it will be ready to go when you need it.
The key to enjoying this Chinese inspired dish is to experiment with your ingredients. Many recipes call for deep fat frying the chicken, but you can shorten the process by using a pressure cooker. This allows you to cook the meat through while reducing the amount of fat that is used. You can also choose to add in your own spice blend. Many people like to add in cumin and garlic powder to give their pork fried rice a unique flavor.
For people who don’t have Chinese food in their diets, you can still enjoy this delicious recipe. It is important to not over season the mixture. The more onions you include, the more your pork tenderloin will taste like it’s been fried. Keep your dish mild, and keep the amount of salt to a minimum. You will find that this easy to make Chinese-inspired dinner is a wonderful way to top off those boring meals you have in your kitchen!
For a simple Chinese-inspired pork fried rice recipe, you will want to start out with a fresh package of white rice. Next you’ll want to add two cups of chicken broth, three tablespoons of soy sauce, four reconstituted dried garlic (the longer you leave the garlic in the package, the better), two medium size carrots, and about one tablespoon of dried ginger (you may also add a couple of dried red chilies as well). These ingredients are enough to make a delicious base for your recipe, but if you need more space, feel free to add in additional items to your liking.
After adding all of your ingredients, allow your rice and broth to simmer on your stovetop. When it begins to simmer, turn the heat down a bit and cover the lid. Let the mixture cook for approximately five minutes. Once it does, remove the lid and stir up your ingredients one last time. Your easy pork fried rice is now ready to serve!
As you can see, making this dish doesn’t require any special ingredients except for chicken fried rice. By using items already in your cupboard you cut down on the amount of time you would have to spend cooking your meal. Additionally, this dish is much quicker to prepare and isn’t as messy when you add-ins. So the next time you have a dinner date, don’t worry if your grocery bill comes in the low single digits because you can still eat a great and healthy meal! Just remember to add-in some steamed or baked vegetables for that additional touch of natural goodness.
